This month’s student chapter spotlight features Villa Maria College and Emmalee Lowe, one of Villa Maria’s star interior design students. Lowe, a senior, was the most recent first place recipient of the ASID NYU-CE student competition award.

Emmalee is also the president of the College’s IN club, which is an ASID student chapter. Under Emmalee’s leadership, the club plans and sponsors a number of activities that range from student mixers to community projects, speaker series, and social events.

The newsletter also featured a screenshot of Emmalee’s award-winning project, Ghillie’s Pub Restaurant Design Main Space and Mural Installation. Her full project can be seen here: https://www.villa.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Emmalee-Lowe-Ghillies-Pub-Presentation-Interior-Design.pdf.

In her design statement, Emmalee says she drew inspiration from a mural by Irish artist Finbar McHugh and the streets of Ireland. Her design makes use of a similar color palette and an emphasis on free-formed shapes.
