Villa Maria College participates in The Yellow Ribbon Program!
The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the law that created the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The Yellow Ribbon Program is available for Institutions of Higher Learning (degree granting institutions) in the U.S. or at a branch of such institution located outside the U.S. The program allows approved institutions of higher learning and the VA to partially or fully fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the established thresholds under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Quick Links for Veterans
I served the country as a United States Marine Veteran from 2011 to 2015. During that time, I was stationed overseas and got to travel the world. After being honorably discharged, I worked at a few jobs where I was successful but I wanted more out of life.
I have always had a passion for all types of design but video game design is where I found my true calling. It was a pleasant surprise when I found that Villa had the program for me to be able to pursue just that. I didn’t know what I was expecting to see when I first came in for New Student Orientation, but I quickly knew once I saw it.
The College and the program itself felt like home – and exactly what I’d been looking for. I’ve been more than impressed with Villa. I have met some incredible staff and made some amazing friends already and am incredibly happy to be able to be a part of the veterans program as well. I’ve even decided to start a video game design club where students in the same program can meet and work on any projects they are working on or any school work pertaining to the field.
It’s hard transitioning from the military and work field to the school field so to have a space where we can do just that, truly is a blessing. — Jose Font, Game Design, ’24
