On Thursday, April 18 the College hosted its annual Honors Convocation and Honors Societies Induction ceremonies. Held in recognition of the academic accomplishments of our students and faculty during the academic year, the event recognized 6 members of our faculty and 20 students.

Phi Theta Kappa

ΦΘΚ or sometimes PTK, is the international honor society of two-year colleges and academic programs. The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Delta Epsilon Sigma

ΔΕΣ is a national scholastic honor society that was established in 1939 for students of Catholic universities and colleges in the United States. The society was founded at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa in 1939 by Father Fitzgerald. To be eligible, undergraduate students must have completed at least fifty percent of the credit requirements for their baccalaureate degree and rank no lower than the highest twenty percent of their class in scholarship. Villa Maria College’s chapter is Epsilon Eta.
