Addison Henderson returned to campus this week for two exciting events: a workshop exclusively for Villa Maria’s film students and a panelist at VillaCon, the College’s one-day gaming convention.
On Friday, March 24, Henderson hosted a workshop that put Villa’s film students in front of industry professionals who are currently working in Hollywood. The two guest speakers who joined Henderson were:
- Logan Coles – a writer and producer form Los Angeles, who was Chadwick Boseman’s producing partner. Coles is also the executive producer of Sea Change Entertainment and the co-founder and principal at X-ception Content.
- Kevin Polowy – a writer and producer and a senior entertainment correspondent and host at Yahoo Entertainment.
According to Henderson, the three-hour session gave students 45 minutes with each pro, plus additional time for questions. During that time, they learned more about how to make independent films and has the opportunity to pick the professionals’ brains during an open question and answer session.
“This workshop was an amazing opportunity for Digital Filmmaking students,” said Sarah Mann, assistant professor of digital filmmaking. “It helped connect them to the local film industry and strengthened their skill set. Being able to interact with industry pros in the open forum Addison provided pulls back the curtain on how movies are made and allowed students to expand their knowledge of the business end of filmmaking. Addison has been so generous with his time and willingness to share his expertise and we are lucky to have him at Villa!”
Tomorrow, Saturday, March 25, Henderson is scheduled to host a one-hour question-and-answer style panel, followed by a 30-minute meet and greet. The panel will be moderated by filmmaking student Romone Reeves.
Henderson’s VillaCon panel will begin at 12 PM and will be held in the College’s auditorium.
Henderson is an award-winning actor, director, and producer who worked alongside famed actor Chadwick Boseman on some of the highest-grossing films of all time, including Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame.
