Villa Maria College is partnering with New York State Senator Timothy M. Kennedy and Say Yes Buffalo to present Listen, Learn, Act: Education’s Role in Combating Racism and Violence.  This event will be a listening forum to help educators, students, and community members prepare to deal with ongoing trauma and to create a more inclusive, responsible, anti-racist, community-driven agenda in the upcoming academic year 

Listen, Learn, Act: Education’s Role in Combating Racism and Violence to be held at Villa Maria College on October 18th, at 7:00pm in the College’s Auditorium.  Directions to the auditorium can be found at https://www.villa.edu/map/.  The event is open to the public and ample parking is available for free.

The panelists for the event will consist of student and faculty within our community with representatives from Buffalo Public Schools, and local area colleges including Buffalo State College, Medaille University, and Villa Maria College.  Moderators for the evening will be Zeneta Everhart, Director of Diversity and Inclusion, NYS Senator Timothy Kennedy 63rd District, and Dr. Matthew Giordano, President of Villa Maria College.

Respondents to the panel will be Timothy M. Kennedy, New York State Senator 63rd District, Byron Brown, Mayor of the City of Buffalo, Dr. Katherine Conway-Tuner, President of SUNY Buffalo State College, and Dr. Shahla Ahmad, MD, Family & Geriatric Medice, Community Health Center of Buffalo, Inc.
