Prevent the Spread of Disease

The CDC continues to encourage common-sense strategies for preventing the spread of communicable diseases. We ask for your assistance to reinforce health prevention measures at home in the following ways:

  • Get vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Get a flu vaccine.

Health Screening Info

If you test positive:
You no longer need to complete a health screening form.

Stay home and isolate away from others (including people you live with who are not sick) if you have respiratory virus symptoms to prevent spreading the virus to others.

Call your doctor with questions about your own health and for advice on managing symptoms. If you are having trouble breathing or are experiencing severe symptoms, call 9-1-1 immediately.

If you feel sick:
You no longer need to complete a health screening form.

You should stay home and away from others, including people with whom you live who are not sick, if they have respiratory virus symptoms that are not better explained by another cause. These symptoms can include fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache.

You may resume normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, both of the following are true:

  • Symptoms are getting better overall, and
  • They no longer have a fever without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Take added precautions over the next 5 days, including taking additional steps for cleaner air, hygiene, masks, physical distancing, and testing when they will be around other people, especially older adults, young children, and those with weakened immune systems.

If you develop a fever or start to feel worse, stay home and away from others again. Use the same criteria for returning to normal activities as when you first had symptoms and take added precautions over the next 5 days.
