Villa Maria College is seeking volunteers for “In Giving, We Receive” – a Feed My Starving Children MobilePack Event on September 21-22, 2012 in the College’s Student Center. The event boasts 500 volunteers ages 5 years old and up, working together to pack over 100,000 meals to meet the needs of starving children in over 70 countries around the world. Villa Maria College is partnering with other area institutions such as Daemen College and D’Youville College, St. Luke Lutheran Church, and theWELL Church to host this event but is seeking volunteer and fundraising assistance from individuals and other organizations.
“We are currently in the fundraising portion of this event with each meal costing just 22 cents to produce. Our fundraising goal is $22,000 to fund 100,000 meals. Also, because hunger is a local (Buffalo/Niagara) issue, we ask each volunteer to bring a non-perishable food item to the event, which is then distributed to local food pantries,” says Kim Kotz, Coordinator of Villa Volunteers, Professor.
Those interested in volunteering or donating should contact Kim Kotz at (716) 961-1837 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
