Assistant professor Jesse Walp celebrates the opening of “Ripe” his new show at the Burchfield Penney Art Center on August 8. As part of a show involving modern craft artists, Walk was awarded the 2014 Langley Kenzie Award last November, which led to an exhibition at the Buffalo Arts Center and now this show at the Burchfield Penney.
According to the museum, the pieces in the show are derived from various organisms in different developmental stages. Walp concurred, indicating that with the recent birth of his son some of these pieces had been influenced by not only the natural world, but by his wife’s pregnancy.
Photos from the opening can be viewed on the college’s Flickr page.
The exhibit is on view from Friday, August 8, 2014 through Sunday, January 25, 2015. For more information, contact the Burchfield Penney Art Center at 716.878.6011.
