Director of the Creative Writing and Literature Program, Professor Joyce Kessel will be publishing her third book of poetry “Classroom Quixote” this spring.
The book is a new collection of poems inspired by Kessel’s four decades in the classroom, celebrating the joys and struggles she and her students face in dealing with writing. As a professor at Villa, she has taught thousands of students, affecting and being affected by the exchange of ideas in the classroom.
Gary Earl Ross, a fellow instructor at Villa, who manages The Writer’s Den press, has published a number of books by local authors, and edited “Classroom Quixote.”
Kessel will read selected poems from her new collection at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11 at The Daily Planet Coffee Co. on Hertel Ave. There will also be five open reading spots at the microphone that night.
UPDATE: Kessel was featured in a recent article for her poetry collection by the Cheektowaga Bee.
