I have belonged to Nativity of our Lord Parish for my whole life; I went to grammar school at Nativity. I was baptized, made my first communion, alter served, was confirmed, and became a Eucharistic minister at Nativity along with attended mass every Sunday. St. Monica’s Campus for Girls is a branch of Nativity along with multiple other schools. The provides girls living in poverty a secure and nurturing environment on a single gender campus. Because the run on donations, the campus is in need of a lot of work.
My parents, along with a few of their friends and I helped to redesign the library at St. Monica’s. We brought old books that we had to fill up the shelves and were able to gift the girl’s new space to learn.
It was eye-opening to see that it is not always just other counties that make it difficult for girls that grow up in poverty to get an education. St. Monica’s gives these girls in Buffalo a safe place to learn. Without volunteers and donations, they would not be such as success. I was a small part in helping these girls create a future for themselves. — Sarah Rozeski, Interior Design
