Villa Maria’s annual high school photography competition is taking place from May 16 to May 31 and the College is currently seeking entries for inclusion in the exhibit.
First, second and third place will be awarded, as well as 10 honorable mentions. In addition, two students who apply to either of Villa’s photography programs (four-year bachelor’s or two-year associate) will receive $2000 scholarships.
“Last year’s photography competition exhibit was terrific,” said Laura Snyder, professor of photography at Villa. “There was an incredible display of young talent and the enthusiasm shown resulted in over $4000 in prizes being awarded. The annual opening receptions for the photography competition exhibits are always good opportunities for high school students and teachers to spend some time on Villa’s campus and to meet the faculty from our art department.”
This year’s opening reception for the photography competition will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in Villa’s on-campus art gallery, which is located on the ground floor of the Main Building. High school students and teachers are welcome to attend and bring their families to this free event. Anyone interested in checking out Villa’s photography labs may do so during the reception; faculty from Villa’s photography, graphic design, interior design, animation, fashion and fine arts programs will be in attendance.
