On April 28, animation Shahbaaz Shah will Skype in with Villa students for a talk and Q&A about different topics in animation for film and video games. Shah has vast experience in animation for games and film. He has worked on films such as Green Lantern, Transformers 2, and Horton Hears a Who and video games such as Infamous: Second Son, Toy Story 3: The Video Game, Bolt, and The Bourne Conspiracy.

Colorado born and raised, Shahbaaz is no stranger to the production environment. Working as an Animator since 2004, Shahbaaz has been a part of some of the top film, vfx, commercial, and video game studios in the country working on high profile projects. In the film and visual effects realm his credits include; Green Lantern, Horton Hears a Who!, and Transformers 2.

In the game industry his contributions include Toy Story 3, Disney’s Bolt, The Bourne Conspiracy, and most recently Infamous Second Son and its accompanying DLC First Light. Both his commercial works have been nominated for and received awards. The Universal Studios ride, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem received the VES Award for Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project from the Visual Effects Society as well as an Annie by the International Animated Film Society for Best Animated Special Production. The Looney Tunes short, I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat, received an Annie Award nomination for Best Animated Short Subject. Working for major studios such as Sony Imageworks, Blue Sky Studios, Disney Interactive, Reel FX, and Sucker Punch Productions Shahbaaz’s experience is as diverse as his talents.

As well as being a Character Animator, Shahbaaz has worked as motion graphics artist and a teacher. After completing his first year of teaching, Shahbaaz discovered the creative environment surrounded by the infectious passion of art students was where he wanted to be the most.

As a hobby and a supplement to his character animation work, Shahbaaz enjoys performing stand-up comedy, sketch comedy and improv. He continues to freelance animation along with exploring the possibilities of video, photography, and motion graphics.
