Parvenue is the new duo of oboist Megan Kyle and cellist Katie Weissman. They perform a variety of repertoire from the Baroque era to the 20th century, and will be on campus for a performance on Thursday,

Megan Kyle

Megan Kyle, Oboist of Parvenue

January 29. Both are active in the Buffalo music scene as performers and teachers, and came together to form an ensemble through their shared love for chamber music and enthusiasm for the weirdly appealing sonic combination of oboe and cello.

Katie Weissman

Katie Weissman, Cellist of Parvenue

Besides their active and varied performance schedules, Kyle teaches at Houghton College and SUNY Geneseo, and Weissman is part time professor of cello and philharmonia section leader at Buffalo State College. Weissman also plays and sings with Tiny Rhymes, a local chamber folk band, and can be heard on many projects as a member of English Rose Orchestrations, an innovative composition and recording team run out of Buffalo’s own GCR Audio.

The duo also collaborates with pianist Michael McNeill and soprano Maria Lindsey in the Buffalo Bach Project, and both are members of the new music group Wooden Cities.

This show is a reschedule from their snow-canceled performance in November, 2014.
