The Decho Ensemble, founded in 2011 by saxophonists Sarah Marchitelli and Jacob Swanson, have collaborated with poets, dance companies, chamber orchestras, and other instrumentalists to present unique and varied programs, performing on concert series, television, and radio throughout North America and in Europe.

Collaborating with composers, presenting standard repertoire, and adapting old works for two saxophones, the Decho Ensemble continues to push borders and broaden the saxophone’s voice in classical chamber music.

As educators, Swanson and Marchitelli share their passion for music, the saxophone, and collaboration with their students. Marchitelli serves on faculty at the State University of New York at Fredonia and is the Director of Instruction at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts in Jamestown, New York. Swanson teaches instrumental music for the Gowanda Central School District in Gowanda, New York, the New Horizons Band of Western New York, and Jamestown Community College. Both Marchitelli and Swanson maintain private studios at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts where they founded and co-direct the Infinity Saxophone Ensemble.

James Welch serves on the faculty of the State University of New York at Fredonia as a collaborative pianist and instructor of class piano. James also serves on the faculty as a collaborative pianist for the Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, CO. He has performed for Peter Schickele, Giuseppe Sabatini, Renee Fleming, Lee Hoiby, Dawn Upshaw, Gilbert Kalish, Jake Heggie and most recently Ian Clarke, Judy Kuhn, Eric Ewazen, Karen Akers and Jason Robert Brown.

As a soloist, James was a Second Prize winner of the 2007 Bradshaw and Bouno International Piano Competition. He has performed at SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Buffalo, East Carolina University, Morgan State University, Western Oregon University, The Rocky Ridge Music Center, Portland, OR, Lucca Italy, and Ambialet, France.
