“Building a Basilica” Broadcast Premiere

The hour long documentary “Building a Basilica,” will have it’s broadcast television premiere this Sunday, January 19th on ABC. Narrated by well-known actor, Brian Dennehy, the documentary follows the building of the Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna, New York, under the leadership of Father Nelson Baker.

August Productions, Villa Maria College professor Sarah Hanson’s animation company, was hired to create 3D and 2D animations for the documentary by Daybreak TV Productions, which is affiliated with the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo.

Hanson put together a team of Villa faculty, alumni and students to create the detailed work, which included instructors Jonathan Cone and Justin Scricco, as well as James Lang ’13, Valery Amborski ’14, and Andrew Tomaka ’14.

“Building the Basilica” was well received by the audience at its world premiere on Friday, January 11th at the Montante Cultural Center, in Buffalo. Local viewers can catch the broadcast premiere Sunday, January 19th, on WKBW-Channel 7 at noon.
