High School Competition Win Leads Fashion Student to Study her Passion at Villa

Fashion Design and Merchandising at Villa Maria College is a program that prepares you for a career in the fashion industry by providing you with the necessary skills to succeed such as textiles, sewing, illustration, visual merchandising and more!

Villa Maria is a great place to study because it is very intimate and small. There is more than enough individual attention for each and every student. The teachers make it virtually impossible to fail as they are very active in your academics every step of the way and are always readily available to help. The Fashion Design and Merchandising program at Villa is, in my honest opinion, exceptional.

The staff is extremely knowledgeable in what they practice and they are very hands on. Their teaching methods cater to all learning types and they portray the information in the most effective and interesting way possible. The curriculum is fun and the technology is easy to work with. I am excited to be in this program and do what i love everyday!

I am absolutely looking forward to the annual fashion show. Every year it gets better and better. I already have plans for my senior fashion line. After winning the high school competition during the 2016 fashion show, I knew that Villa is where I wanted to get my education. In class we just finished making a tote bag out of our own personal unique fabrics and we are going to be starting a pair of pajamas pants really soon. At home I have a project started. I am recreating Princess Tiana’s leaf wedding dress from the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog.

After I receive my Bachelor’s, I plan on furthering my education by going for my Master’s degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Diego, California. Then I want to pursue a career in costume design for movies and television. While at Villa I have settled into different groups and clubs that can call my own. I have become co-president of The Love Project, Captain of the newfound Villa cheer squad and I am involved in many other clubs and volunteer opportunities.

Villa Maria has definitely become a second home and I would recommend getting an education here to everyone I meet! I have made life long friends and have met people I can now call family.
