The Program The Music Department at Villa offers three degree programs: Music (Performance), Music Business and Jazz. The Music (Performance) Program provides a strong foundation in music theory and history combined with performing skills in both a major and minor instrument and/or voice.
The Music Business Program is interdisciplinary, combining music, business, and liberal arts courses.
The Liberal Arts Core, a combination of humanitites, natural sciences and social sciences, essential to a solid career foundation, is required in both programs.

Liberal Arts
The liberal arts core, a combination of humanities, natuarl sciences and social sciences, essential to a solid career foundation, is required in both programs.
The liberal arts core for Music (Performance) is 31 credit hours, including Music History I.
The liberal arts core for Music Business majors is 22 credit hours.
Employment Opportunities
The Music (Performance) Program prepares students for transfer to a four-year program. In addition to professional performance, career options include music education, music therapy, video production, and broadcasting.
A degree in Music Business prepares students to enter the eighth largest industry in the United States, the music business, including a variety of music related fields and music management.
Special Program Notes
Ample individual practice space, a 168-seat recital hall, a 1400-seat auditorium, and impressive collections of CD's, albums and books are available to students, as is an electronic music lab with MacIntosh computers and midi technology.
Cooperative Education Internships which provide students with hands-on field experience prior to graduation are required in the Music Business Program and optional in the Music (Performance) Program.
A music theory placement examination is required prior to admission to the Music Programs.
Students in both programs participate in solo and ensemble performances.
