SEARCHING THE WEB

Search tools are used for finding information on the World Wide Web. They can be broken into two main categories: Directories and Engines. A directory search tool searches for information by subject matter. Directory search tools are easy to use but they cover fewer sites than search engines. Search engines are keyword indexes compiled by computer programs, which go through the Internet to collect sites and place them into a home database.
