Looking to get your feet wet? Or getting them back under you? Why not do it at a small caring college like Villa? The benefits of a supportive environment where you can do some initial exploration or refine the skills necessary for career changes are here at Villa.
Courses in the Liberal Arts provide the foundation for lifelong learning and for an ever changing diversity of career fields. These are not courses just for the undecided! In any field of study, in any career field, you'll need critical thinking, clear writing, persuasive speaking, and sound decision making. The Liberal Arts Program is designed to help you master those processes and skills.
The Liberal Arts Program at Villa provides an initial exposure to arts, humanities, languages, social and natural sciences, which constitute the wide range of disciplines and ideas found in the first two years of study for virtually any career. Students can choose from concentrations in General Studies, Humanities, Social Science, or Natural Science.
The General Studies Concentration is for students undecided about an academic major and a career goal, students already possessing a postsecondary degree but wanting to increase job opportunities, students having college credits and returning to college after a period of time, or for students wanting a two-year degree and a series of courses that would enrich their lives. In addition, the General Studies concentration in particular can be
tailored to a student's interests by allowing the student to sample from any course or take a variety of different courses in one specific area.

Employment Opportunities
The Villa Liberal Arts Program is designed primarily for transfer to a four-year institution, although some concentrations provide the opportunity for entry-level employment upon graduation.
Liberal Arts graduates can move into a wide range of careers including health and human services, teaching, business, public relations, marketing, sales and management.
The program concentrations serve the needs of students interested in transferring to four-year institutions offering preparation in such fields as pre-law, pre-med, and social work.
Many employers are choosing Liberal Arts graduates because they possess a wide range of skills needed for a variety of careers.
Special Program Notes
The Liberal Arts Degree Program parallels the first two years of study at most four year institutions. Our students actually may take higher-level coruses than students who take two years of general liberal arts at a four-year institution.
Formal articulation agreements exist between the Liberal Arts department at Villa and Canisius College, Cazenovia College, D'Youville College, Hilbert College, Houghton College, Medaille College, and St. Bonaventure University.
Through Villa's Service Learning or student-selected internships, Liberal Arts graduates often choose a career or acquire an oportunity at a company or internship.
Options can lead to advantages!!!
An optional cooperative education internship provides liberal arts majors the opportunity to explore career options and to gain hands-on work experience prior to entering the work force.
