A.Patrick Charnon Scholarship

Pat Charnon was an inspiration to many young people in Beloit, Wisconsin, until his untimely death from cancer in 1987. He had a quick mind and sharp wit, but his compassion, tolerance and generosity defined him better. Pat opened his home to college students and other young people, offering room and board for help with renovations, housework and cooking. He took in summer interns, recent graduates, and others just looking to find their ways. In Pat’s house you were a member of a special community, where you were supported, challenged, and – above all else – respected.

The Ronald Reagan College Leaders Scholarship Program seeks to recognize outstanding young people who are promoting American values on college campuses. Sam Walton Community Scholarship

A $3,000 college scholarship available to graduating seniors with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a demonstrated financial need.

Qualifications: Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States and may not be a Walmart Stores, Inc. Associate, the dependent of a Walmart Stores, Inc. Associate, or the dependent of a Walmart Stores, Inc. Board of Directors member as of March 29, 2010. Applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale, have taken either the ACT or SAT test and be a high school/home school senior graduating between August 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010 or a student who has obtained a GED and would have graduated high school between August 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Educational Advancement Foundation Scholarship

In 2008, EAF awarded more than $107,600 in scholarships to 108 students and 19 additional awards totaling almost $128,300 in categories that included Community Assistance Awards and Youth P.A.C. awards.

The Sorority offers two scholarships Merit and Financial Need, both have similar qualifications.  Please consult website for more specific information.

Qualifications:  To be eligible for this one-year one-time only scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be a full-time, sophomore or beyond;
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited degree-granting institution;

National Pathfinder Scholarship

The National Federation of Republican Women established the National Pathfinder Scholarship Fund in 1985 in honor of First Lady Nancy Reagan. The three annual scholarships of $2,500 each are available to provide financial assistance and support to young students seeking undergraduate or postgraduate degrees. College sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and students enrolled in a Masters Program are eligible. Recent high school graduates and first year college students are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. Scholarship winners may not reapply

Qualifications: Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted.

Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.

You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

SEVEN Fund Student Essay Competition

The aim of SEVEN Fund programs is to challenge the prevailing mindset in the fight against poverty. We want to stimulate discussion around the questions of whether wealth-creation may be the most effective solution to alleviate poverty. We invest our efforts and resources to discuss, find, research, and document examples where entrepreneurial success is shown to have led to poverty alleviation. In the process, we support entrepreneurs in developing countries with case studies, mentorship programs and publicity and services that help them succeed at what they do.

Qualifications: The student essay competition is open to high school students, undergraduates, and graduate students. Students may be in any field of study (including professional fields, such as medical, business, or law). This is a global competition, US citizens, international students, and non-US citizens are welcome to participate. If you are currently in college, you must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution. If you are a high-school student or in the process of submitting applications to enter or re-enter college, you must have active applications underway and must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution by the competition’s close date.
