\\nPlease join u s on October 14th for the opening reception of the “Elegy” Exhibition by R ichard Christian – one of our longstanding adjuncts.
\n“The great god Pan is dead!” The old gods of art\, as in so many other things\, are being replaced by the new art gods: the gods of id entity politics\, of social media fast art and NFT’s\, of political activi sm\, of celebrity cooption and corporate commodification of art. This is s upplanting the old work that tried to address the self\, shepherding other s along that journey by tracking the thoughtful relationship between form and content\, allowing for personal development and spiritual growth. But these things are gone. Let’s remember them together now before they are fo rgotten forever.”
\nThe exhibition will be on view from October 3rd – 27th.

The work on view was created by junior and s enior Students from Art 312: Mixed Media. Work made in this course represe nts the earliest stages of each student’s individual artistic practice – f ree from the strict parameters present in lower-level studio art courses. Each student was challenged with formulating both the form and content of their individual semester long project\, articulating their ideas in forms and processes that felt tied to their subject and representative of their distinctive artistic voice. In most cases\, the students worked with mat erials that were new to them\, meaning that much of the semester involved intense workshopping\, self-assessment and adapting to unforeseen challeng es and changes. The emphasis is on process and creative problem-solving.\n This exhibition depicts the first steps of what is\, for artists\, a life- long practice.
